Make a hanging spring garden - #floweringnotes

What you will need:

  • Moss

  • Hanging Ring

  • Glass Jars (for cut flowers)

  • Water

  • Secateurs

  • Small Plants

(I have used Jasmine, Fern and Muscari.)

  • Cut Flowers

(I have used Narcissi/Daffodils and Hellebore.)

Take your hanging ring and fill it with moss. Make or leave room for the small plants. Get rid of any excess soil from the small plants and place them into the hanging ring, surround them with more moss to cover the roots and ensure that they get enough water. Take your little glass jars (glass ramekins work really well) and make room for them amongst the moss. Put more moss in them, fill with water and push a hole or indent into the middle for the cut flowers to sit in. Cut your flowers to the length desired and make little bunches to place into the jars. Repeat these two steps until you have the look that you want. Water everything and keep it moist to prolong the life. Change the water in the jars at least every 3 days. Try not to be too uniform, keep it looking free, fun and not too symmetrical and voila! You have yourself a spring garden. Hang it in pride of place and admire your creativity!

Tip: Cut flowers from your garden and hedgerows to save money, be sustainable and limit the amount of imported flowers that we use.

Tip: You can get moss from your local flower market or florist.
