A few #floweringnotes
Witch Hazels are a genus of flowering plants in the family Hamamelidaceae, with four species in North America, and one each in Japan and China.
A plant with woody stems and quite an unusual looking flower.
Because most varieties flower in winter, they aren't pollinated by the usual suspects, but in fact by moths!
One of its nicknames being 'winterbloom', it is a winter flowering shrub with many medicinal properties. The bark extract is used to aid everything from eczema to acne.
